FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HARTFELD GROUP PLC COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF THE PROMPT
Editorial Independence Assured; Three Senior Appointments Confirmed
SUSSEX, 1 April 2026 -- Hartfeld Group plc today announced the completion of its acquisition of The Prompt, a technology commentary publication based in Sussex. The transaction was reviewed and approved under Schedule III, Part B of the applicable media ownership framework. No conditions were attached.
R. Voss, Chairman of Hartfeld Group plc, said: "The Prompt represents the kind of quality regional voice that Hartfeld has long sought to support. We are investing in serious technology journalism at a moment when the integrity of information has never been more contested. We will not interfere." The publication will continue.
The Prompt was established in Sussex as an independent technology commentary publication covering artificial intelligence, infrastructure, developer culture, and the broader technology industry. The acquisition is intended to provide the publication with the resources to expand its coverage while preserving, in full, its editorial character.
As part of the transition, Hartfeld Group has confirmed the appointment of three senior editorial figures:
X. Voidwriter joins as Breaking News Editor. Previously a correspondent with the European Wire Services Consortium, Voidwriter brings what Hartfeld describes as "an exceptional instinct for significant developments." Sources familiar with the appointment describe it as "a statement of intent."
M. Kline takes the newly created role of Editorial Standards Director, joining from the Central European Press Corporation, where he served as Senior Editorial Standards Officer. Kline will be responsible for the structural integrity and sequential integrity of all published content. In a statement, Kline said: "The sequence of claims matters as much as the claims themselves. I will ensure the sequence is correct."
A. Blackridge joins as Production Editor, also from the Central European Press Corporation. Blackridge's appointment covers the final stage of review of all editorial output before publication. Hartfeld Group notes that Blackridge "brings to this publication exactly what it requires."
The Prompt reaffirms its commitment to accurate, verified technology commentary. In a period defined by AI-generated content, deep fake proliferation, and coordinated information operations across national media environments, the publication positions itself as a trusted source of record. Governments and regulators across Europe have moved to restrict foreign ownership of national media assets; The Prompt notes that its editorial processes are structured to ensure that no external influence, of any kind, affects its editorial process. Hartfeld Group fully endorses this position.
The Beekeeper, Editor-in-Chief of The Prompt, said: "The editorial team welcomes Hartfeld Group's investment and the resources it brings. Our existing staff -- including E. Halberd, our infrastructure correspondent, and Mrs. Zad, our senior copy editor -- remain in place. We look forward to working with Mr. Voidwriter, Mr. Kline, and Mr. Blackridge. Their expertise is not in question." The Editor-in-Chief added that a further editorial note would follow "in the usual way."
